Partners in the Baltic Sea Region and Overseas
BioCon Valley® has established cooperation with international partner regions in an early stage to boost transnational collaboration and thereby to strengthen the region’s competitiveness. Due to its geographic location and common history, main emphasis is placed on the Baltic Sea Region.
. Medicon Valley Academy Medicon Valley Academy (MVA) is a member financed network organisation within the biotech and life science area. MVA works to improve the conditions for science and knowledge production, technology transfer, innovation and for the preconditions for enterprises to exploit this knowledge. In addition MVA works to visualize the potential of activities in both Sweden and Denmark as well as internationally. Medicon Valley will be among the five most attractive bioregions worldwide.
. ScanBalt – Borderless Biotech / Baltic Sea Region BioCon Valley® is member of the ScanBalt Initiative, the network of all bioregions in the Baltic Sea region. In 2001 ScanBalt was initiated within a joint EU-funded project by the initiatives Medicon Valley Academy, BioCon Valley® and BioTurku. In August 2004, the network has established its own legal form. ScanBalt bundles its members’ interests on the European level and initiates and coaches international projects of companies, universities and research institutions. . Medical Valley / Japan In May 2004, Medical Valley, Japan and BioCon Valley have signed an agreement for cooperation. Medical Valley is located within the Japanese Prefecture Mie, south of Nagoya. Goal of the agreement is to encourage universities and companies of the two regions to take on and carry out joint projects. The cooperation is being promoted by the Japanese External Trade Organization JETRO and its program “Region-to-Region”. The first specific project within this cooperation is the joint organization of the German-Japanese conference on “regenerative Medicine” by BioCon Valley, Medical Valley and the Helmholtz Association during the Germany Year 2005 in Japan.
